My deepest sympathy to all of Declans Loved Ones I remember him as a young boy when his mom Joan would bring him to the Fairport Baptist Homes Annual Sale Where he would always buy her some jewelry They would walk around hand in hand with big smilesHe is still as handsome as ever He his mom Joan and dad Michael will forever live in my heart ❤ MY love Shirley Pappert

Dear Alec, Aidan, Caity and Kareen, My heart is broken for everyone in the family. Brendan and Declan were taken from us too soon and too quick. We all need to be strong to get through this most difficult time. Please know that Michael, Connor and I are here for you if you ever need us. Certainly the O'Brien brothers were all a bunch of characters -- true Irishmen. I will always remember all the good times on Whitney Road with Declan and the family with a big smile. Our time in Barbados was an absolute highlight for Brendan and I. I am so glad we all got to spend that time together. Much love to everyone!

This photo was taken at Brendan and Lisa's wedding on September 29, 1984. We all had a great time and this is my favorite picture of the O'Brien brothers: Declan, Brendan and Kevin.

Declan, the last day of your life was the worst day of my life. Your life past way too quickly but your impact on so many will live on in our hearts forever. My memories of you make me smile but my heartbreak is knowing that my future without you is indelibly altered with a persistent sense of loss and sadness. Everything makes me think of you. I watch a tv show and think of how you would have directed it; I read a good book and think of all the screenplays and ideas you had yet to write; I hear people laughing and I think of your wonderful witty sense of humor and how much fun it was to be around you; I talk to your children and I feel your tremendous love and your heart. Your celebration of life is on Friday the 13th. Nothing could be more fitting. Our parents were born on the 13th of March and mom on Friday the 13th. You had no bigger fan and no one that loved you more than our mom. You were her special blessing and you always brought the biggest smile to her face. Friday the 13th can also represent the sci fi /horror genre of movies and it was one of your favorite movie genres to direct and produce. You had so much fun directing movies that you said you could never picture yourself retiring from it. Every night I step outside and look up at the stars in the sky and I talk to you and wonder how you and Brendan and Mom and Dad are doing. I miss you so much Declan. Love you forever my little brother. Siobhan
